So this month, I spent a lot of time catching up on my review posts and attempting to get back on track with my schedule of TBR. As such, I did not read much, but did do a good amount of reviews at the end of the month! I just need to get back into the swing of things and then it’ll be all good!
So here are the unbalanced stats for this month:
- Review Posts: 6
- Other Posts: 0
- Books Read: 3 out of 11
- Bookstagram: 5
- Goodreads Challenge Progress: 3 new (47/100 total)
- A to Z Reading Challenge Progress: 0 new (17/26 total)
- Popsugar Challenge Progress: 0 new (23/50 total)
Books Read:
I do not include books that I DNF or couldn’t rate 3+ stars
Vox by Christina Dalcher
3 Stars. This is a dystopian novel paralleled with our current society and political climate in America, where women are only allowed 100 words a day. I found this to be a highly entertaining read, though was slightly disappointed with the ending. Read this novel and figure out your own thoughts on the topic!
Our War by Craig DiLouie
4 Stars. This is also a dystopian novel eerily similar to today’s America and politics. Here, America has burst into another civil war, one faction backing the impeached President, the other backing the liberal Senate. Two kids have to find their own way to survive in this tragic world. I loved this book, and found it to be quite suspenseful and enlightening. It had a few technical components that irked me a bit, but all in all, a great book!
The Blade Witch by Nygel Oglesby
3 Stars. A fantasy about a woman with magic taking revenge upon those who hurt her. So short, I read it all in one sitting! It is easy and quick to read, and definitely compelling with characters you love to love and love to hate. It was a bit too rushed for me (I wanted more!!) and was filled with a plethora of grammatical/editing mistakes. But if you can get over the technicalities of the writing, then this is a great beginning to the Songs of Eldrin series! I will be grabbing the next book once it’s available!

Books to Read in August:
So, most of these books are spillover from June… Obviously I did not get a lot of reading done this month, but I did get mostly caught up on my reviews! Hopefully this month I can now get caught up on my TBR! As well as keep up with my reviews. I have lofty goals this month, what with graduate school starting up again as well as having my very own classroom to teach high school English! But I know I can do this!
