Birthday Book Haul!

Yesterday was my birthday 🙂

And my mom knows me so well that she got me books! Two, to be exact. Unfortunately, my husband is under the false belief that I have too many books (blasphemy!), so he REFUSES to buy me any 😦 How rude, right?

Here are the two books I received!

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes This is the unofficial prequel in The Hunger Games series, following Snow as a teenager, after his house has fallen on bad times. It is up to him to renew his House’s legacy by mentoring the female tribute from District 12 in the Games. I have been seeing this book pop up on Bookstagram practically every day, and I AM SO READY TO READ IT!!! I’ve seen nothing by glowing reviews, so I’m trying not to overhype myself… But I might be failing.

Have you read this one yet? How did you like it?

A L’Ecole des Sorciers by JK Rowling

A L'Ecole des Sorciers I have been trying to teach myself French for the last year or so, and I’ve wanted to get an easy-ish book that wasn’t a children’s tale that I could get into! Something to keep me entertained, but also at a pretty low reading level so that I can still comprehend it. This is perfect because I already know the story, so that will help! Even though all the names are different…

Anyway, I am excited to begin my French journey with HP, making frequent stops along the way (like, every sentence or two) to check my comprehension or look up a word. ALSO, I find it pertinent to note that my mom bought this second-hand, so JK does not get any of the royalties.
