Book Review: No Country for Old Men

I originally picked this book up because I wanted to read a "modern classic." I'd read The Road and loved it, so I decided why not? (I also needed a book that started with "N" for my A to Z Reading Challenge in 2020) Normally, not my first pick as I don't care too much for crime novels, especially cowboy-esque ones. BUT this was worth the read! I ended up finishing it off in 2 straight days. I'll spare the summary, because the blurb tells all you need to know without giving anything away. 

Book Review: The Hobbit

Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. Book Review: The Marshal

Book Review: Second Skin: Fractures

In this LitRPG novel, set in a medieval "world," Dreya must figure out to survive as an outsider and hide her Deathless status from the world's native inhabitants. Dreya, her screen name in this new world, started off as an old man, who had lost everything in his life that was important to him, including his own wife. In a final attempt to make his life meaningful again, he enclosed himself into a new virtual reality game system, which took his body and placed it into this new, supposedly virtual world. But something happened as he was crossing over, and now he is stuck in the world as his avatar, Dreya. Throughout the novel, the man, now Dreya, is searching for ways to survive in the unfamiliar world, as well as searching for who she truly is. Is she the same man that her body left behind in the real world? Or is she actually becoming Dreya herself?

Book Review: The Unknown Hero

Isaac Philips, in this futuristic novel from another galaxy explores a tense political climate as a new species shows up unannounced, armed for war. With a plethora of futuristic inventions and a variety of alien races and worlds, Philips creates an entirely new universe, fraught with dangerous political times and on the brink of a great war. The book follows a Midek (one of the many unique races depicted), who loses his brother to an invader. His life is thus turned completely around, as he journeys to different worlds, navigating his way through the political climate and trying to do the best he can for those he believes in. Will it be enough?

Book Review: Inevitable Ascension

Two friends, scorned by society more times than they can count team up to make a living hunting exotic animals and selling them on the blackmarket. Violina is our heroic protagonist, and Lux is the quirky and humorous sidekick--though I'm sure she'd claim equality. After one of their business deals goes awry, Violina liberates an ancient artifact and carries it around with her... Then, after everything seems to settle into place, finally, for the girls, they are thrust into a crazy, era-jumping adventure where the fate of the world is in their hands. Will they be able to avoid the butterfly effect of their time travel? Or do they need to make some changes for the betterment of their world?

Book Review: Hamartia
